Community Partner: Governor’s Village STEM Academy
About Kristen: I am currently placed at Governor’s Village STEM Academy, which is a K-8th public school that consists of a lower and upper campus. At Governer’s Village STEM Academy I assist teachers with tutoring students, grading papers and talking to students about the importance of college. The main thing I enjoy about this partnership is having the opportunity of being a positive impact on their life. These students come from different backgrounds and I just enjoy being around them watching them learn while they’re enjoying their middle school years. They have so much ahead of them and they each have the potential to achieve anything they want to in life.
I come from a very diverse and cultural background. I am part Chinese, Vietnamese, and Cambodian. I am a person who loves to bake and travel. Baking is a stress reliever for me and I love to search up different recipes and test them out. In addition to baking, I love to try new foods, especially while traveling to different places. The most interesting thing I’ve tried was escargot (snails), in a cave in France.
