Bonner Leaders: 2017
Community Partner: Levine Museum of the New South
About Chloe: In the Bonner Leaders program, my community partner is the Levine Museum of the New South. Here, I do research for the K(NO)W JUSTICE K(NO)W PEACE exhibit at the museum. I am also currently training to become a docent for the permanent exhibit; From Cotton Fields to Skyscrapers. The Bonner Leaders program has allowed me to explore what my professional interests are and learn how to communicate and promote leadership within my community. After I graduate from the university, I plan on becoming a criminal prosecution lawyer and advocating for better rehabilitation services for former criminals to reintegrate into society.

About Rebecca: Last year I was the Volunteer Coordinator for my community partner. This year I am assisting the new coordinator while translating for volunteer doctors in our free clinic. My favorite thing about my community partner is in the variety of ways we are able to help those in need and each opportunity to volunteer is rewarding in its own way. The food pantry enables me to personally get to know those that we serve while the clinic allows me to explore my career path and learn the intimate details of health concerns that are specific to a large, growing, and often forgotten population in the US. Outside of my placement, I am passionate about helping those around me in my community, especially those in the Hispanic population. I believe it is important to support and uplift others as the growth of an individual is growth for us all. I love staying up to date with current events and I am interested in medicine as well as the policies behind our healthcare system.
